I always say color is life! Have you ever perceived how color influences our humor and how it is related to our personality? It is used including for health treatments, as is the case of chromotherapy. And for this reason, we should concern ourselves about the color which we will “clothe” our home. So, let’s go to what matters.

How to choose the color in the home decoration

First, I want you to know that there is no right or the wrong color, all of them can be utilized in bigger or smaller quantities, everything will depend on the decoration style and the effect you wish to create. The important is that there is harmony, that they combine among them.

Let start talking about the decoration base, which is set up by floor, doors, windows, and walls. They are large areas which will get to influence the color that we will use in the furniture and objects, by that it is recommendable to utilize neutral colors, like gray, beige, brown, white, and woody, in this way it will be easier to make combinations and they have the advantage to be timeless.

After, analyze the colors of big furniture, like sofa, closet, wardrobes, kitchen cabinet, and curtains. These pieces are not replaced frequently, by this it is also suitable to use neutral colors.

The pastel tons, as green and light grays, old rose, and beige also are great for the decoration base and the big furniture.

This does not mean that you cannot use vibrant colors in these areas and furniture. Let suppose that you fell in love with a turquoise sofa, so that the ambient does not get much heavy, the other colors should be more discrete. After all, when we apply a strong color in big furniture, or on an important wall of the room, it will be the center of attention, for this reason, it is cool to make this balance.

Another reason for not exaggerating in the strong colors is that they are easier to boring. To avoid that it happens, opt for placing in places that we do not get for a long time, like toilets and entry halls. Do you where it is cool to use a strong color? On the headboard, thereby when you get in the bedroom you will see the color, but when you are laid on the bed, you do not see it, so it does not bore you.

Now, a “safe ground”, is to utilize them in the details, like a cushion, pictures, lighting, and decorative objects.

Lu, can I use dark color in small ambient?

Yes, you can, as long as it is a small proportion, otherwise, the room will seem smaller. Be alert just for not using a dark color on the wall in front of the window, if not, it will dark the ambient. It is better that dark color is applied on the sides or on the same wall where the window is.

On the other hand, the tons from medium to the clears reflect the natural lighting and get the sensation of amplitude to ambient.

I like to paint the ceiling white to help in the reflex of the light, as well as doors and baseboards, for contrasting with the wall color. But everything depends on the effect we wish, for example, in a hipster ambient gets very interesting to paint the baseboards and the door with the same color of the wall, this gets a sensation of unity to the ambient.

Set up a palette color

In Ink stores and manufacturer websites, it is possible to find color charts that make it much easier to decide which color to choose and whether they match each other. Now I'm going to give you an amazing tip, get ready yourself.

There is a site called Adobe Color, where you can arrange a color palette according to your taste and furniture that you already have at your home, and, this way, to see they match themselves. On this same site, you can upload a photo of some ambient that you have researched and thought cool, that it set up, automatically, the palette of the color of this photo, and it is possible to save it for you can replicate in your home. It is practical and easy of using.
