Tips on how to choose rugs for your home

Hi guys, hope you are doing well! Today`s post is full of little secrets and tips on how to choose rugs for your home. Let`s talk about combinations, sizes, how to keep, and elect a suitable model for each room. After reading this text, I am sure you will not have any questions about this issue, and you will be able to choose the best chosen for all ambient at your home.

The rug is a very important piece of décor. In integrated ambient, it borders the area, brings cozy, personality and can hidden floor` imperfections. It is a great thermal insulator for cold days and supports reducing noise. A rug can totally change the room`s face, it is a significant piece, for this reason, we need to be careful when to choose it.

There is no suitable rug size, everything is going to depend on ambient and available furniture, then, before going shopping, do measure the place where you will place it, thereby you do not take the risk to acquire an inappropriate model. It is also important to consider the thickness, in case it will stay next to a door, after all, nobody deserves a balled-up rug.

How to combine rugs

Much more than to combine, the rug needs to be in harmony with the ambient and all other objects and furniture. If the sofa is printed, a safe way is to choose a smooth rug or vice versa.

If your rug is printed, you can use the same colors for cushions, so that “they talk to”, and the ambient gets balanced. Nevertheless, combine cushions is not a rule.

When the room is too big, it is hard to find out a suitable rug. For these cases, my tip is overlapping the rugs. It gets very beautiful and totally different! Try to combine models with the same language, or a smooth piece and another with graphic drawings. The result is very interesting, I am sure you will like that very much.

I have already given this tip here in this video, where I talk about size a little more. Do not let to see it.

How to use rugs in each room

As each room has a different function, so the kind of rug that we use in each one of them should also be varied.

Rug for the living room

In a living room, the rug needs to involve the others furniture, it will work as a frame, delimiting the area. It cannot be loose at the room center, furniture does not need to get totally on the rug, it is enough overlapping just the front foot of sofa, armchair, chair, and sides, it must get through about 30 cm.

Rug for dinning room

I particularly do not recommend placing a rug in this local, since there is a great probability to fall down food and drinks, and, when this occurs, it gets that awful climate, furthermore, it is difficult to drag the chairs.

In case, you want anyway, avoid fuzzy rugs, and ensure that it is large enough including all the chairs, even when occupied.

Rug for the bedroom

The rug for the bedroom can be fuzzier for transmitting cozy and relaxing. I like to place it under the bed, only until half of the furniture, by letting about 50 cm on each side. It is also possible to utilize a treadmill on each side of the bed.

Rug for the kitchen

Besides the esthetical function, the rug in the kitchen is also functional, avoids splashes which can cause falling. For this kind of ambient is also indicated that it has an anti-slip, that is easy to clean up, of those which is just to put in the washing machine, and it is already ready to use again.

Rug for the bathroom

The biggest worry about the rug that we place in the bathroom is the thickness, there is no advantage to choose a too smooth model that does not pass in the door’s gap. If the ambient is small, only one rug will be enough.

If you buy a rug for any room, and it is sliding, you can buy those anti-slipping netting or ribbon in stores of construction goods, or on the internet, it is very practical and cheap. It is worth it, after all, it is a safety issue.

Practical rugs of maintaining

Practical rugs of maintaining is a very important something because everyone wants a comfortable and beautiful home, but that does not give much work to maintain, are that right guys? So, here go my tips:

  • Rugs of natural fibers, like sisal, coconut, jute are easy to combine, have good durability, and are practical to maintain, it is enough to vacuum the dust once a week. They are also indicated for people who have respiratory allergies, besides being the most ecological option.
  • In case you have pets, do prefer rugs of low thickness and are easy to clean, like suede, twill, and those synthetic of polyester and polypropylene.
  • Those rugs made of wool are beautiful and cozy, but they accumulate much dirty, on the other hand, they are practical to hygiene, it is enough vacuuming weekly. Those made of cotton are also great but tend to be less resistant when compared with wool.

If you want practicality run away from those fuzzy, like Shaggy, they are beautiful and smooth, but non-indicated to those allergic people, pets, and children because they accumulate dust and are difficult to maintain. pets e crianças, pois, acumulam poeira e são difíceis de manter.

Finally, it is important that you toggle the rugs’ position for not occurring excessive wear in only one area of the piece.

I case you still get any questions, please write here in the comments, I will love to respond to you.

Kisses, Lu
